What if the business is one that thrives in the summer and is slow in the winter? Is it ethical for the bosses to save money, since there is so little cash inflow, and require a one-person shift?
Does it matter that it gets dark earlier in the winter?
Does it change your opinion if the employee is a male or a female?
What if the employee was college-age, or middle-age?
What if we add the information that the neighborhood is slightly shady, and that area has had several break-ins recently, including two at that particular location (though sometime in the middle of the night, after employees had left).
What is your take?
Suggestion:
As opposed to a small business closing because they can't hire 2 people? Of course.
End of the day, you have to manage paroll to stay in business.
Dark? No
Male.female/whatever. I have neighbors who are women who would take you head off for suggesting they are a weaker sex
Same with age.
You alarm the premises, and instruct the people if there is a robbery, you smile, hand them the register and whatever the crook wants, and let the insurance handle it. You talk to the police about beefing up their presence if there is a real issue
