My Birth Certificate Doesn't Match My Social Security Card, Will That Be a Problem When I Retire?

I discovered when I was 36 years old, that every bit of business I've done was with my name as I thought it was. That year I had to provide a copy of my birth certificate, and discovered that my first and middle names are exactly reversed on my SS# and the certificate. I asked some one at SS and was told it didn't matter, they went by the number. Well, I just wonder if they'll say the same thing when I finally reach retirement age and try to get my benefits I've contributed all my life?

Suggestion:

The Social Security Office Rarely ask for birth certificates.
They will probably ask for a valid drivers license for ID.

Experience! Mine didn't exactly match either = No Problem!

Of course if the US budget fails they may want to get real 'sticky' about details like that.

US Entitlements & Mandatory Spending = 56% of US Budget!
